Reading the ladder

A ladder that starts wide at the bottom

Fortnite ranked has more players at the bottom of the ladder than most competitive games, because every casual player who tries ranked once is counted from their first match. Above that, Elite and Unreal both hold you in place for the rest of the season once you reach them, which keeps the top tiers fuller than their difficulty suggests.

Methodology

Where these numbers come from

Epic does not publish a rank distribution. We use the September 2026 Fortnite Tracker figures as compiled by Esports Tales, which several other sites reproduce exactly, for the shared Battle Royale and Zero Build ladder. The figures are tier totals for tracked players, not every account. Reload has its own separate ranked ladder and is not included.

Move up the ladder

Every rank you climb puts you above a bigger share of the player base. Our boosters and coaches play at the top of it.

Still have questions?Contact us

Does Epic publish the Fortnite rank distribution?

No. Epic shows your own rank and the Unreal leaderboard, but no distribution. Every Fortnite distribution comes from a tracker; ours is named under the table.

How rare is Unreal in Fortnite?

Unreal is the top tier and holds a small share of tracked players. The exact figure is in the table. Unreal Legends status, above that, needs a Top 500 place on the leaderboard.

Do Battle Royale and Zero Build have separate ranks?

Not any more: since Chapter 6 they share one ranked progression. Reload still ranks separately.
