Molten Core Attunement

In order to finish the Molten Core attunement, players are required to finish the “Attunement to the Core” quest, which is provided by the blood elf NPC Lothos Riftwaker. You can find him situated within Blackrock Mountain, nearby the Grinding Quarry entrance. Lothos will instruct you to travel into the Blackrock Depths, secure the Core Fragment, and return it to him.

The Core is positioned right next to the portal to the Molten Core, meaning you won't need to deviate from your route if you are already traveling that way. Simply return the Core to Lothos either right away or once you have completed the raid, and he will grant you access to the shortcut.

In a technical sense, no. One might even claim this isn't a true attunement, as the quest is not mandatory for entering the raid. Nevertheless, finishing this “attunement” makes future trips to the Molten Core significantly easier, as you will no longer be forced to traverse the full length of Blackrock Depths to reach the raid entrance.

You can find the attunement quest within Blackrock Mountain. You must interact with Lothos Riftwaker, who is positioned directly by the Grinding Quarry entrance. Keep in mind that you must reach level 55 to accept this quest. He is stationed inside a small room close to the entrance, so ensure you look carefully to find him.

The attunement requirement for the Molten Core raid was taken out of the game during Patch 5.4.0, which occurred during the Mists of Pandaria expansion. Consequently, you will not see this quest while playing the retail version of WoW. Conversely, the quest remains active in the Classic version of WoW, where it is highly beneficial for players looking to reduce travel time during future raid runs.
