Enchanting

Enchanting remains a top-tier profession in WoW, and it appears little has shifted. Even if some players find the lack of fresh updates or additions underwhelming, the old adage remains true: if it isn't broken, don't change it.

For those less familiar, let’s briefly review your tasks as an enchanter. You will primarily focus on enchanting, which should come as no surprise. Within a game like World of Warcraft, where max-level players constantly seek methods to optimize their equipment for an upcoming PvP battle or Heroic Raid, the significance of enchantments is hard to overstate. Furthermore, the variety of gear you can enhance is vast: clothing, armor, cloaks, jewelry, weapons, and even professional tools.

This is not to suggest that Enchanters lack other offerings or that these items are without value. You can produce rods and wands, which may prove incredibly potent and sought-after by magic users. You also generate crafting reagents that other crafters require, along with illusions, which are essentially cosmetic enhancements.

While there is definitely a market for these various goods, the majority of players will seek you out for enchants. Although all WoW professions possess their own utility, none match the universal demand of Enchantment. Whether a player participates in PvP or PvE, plays a warrior or mage, raids, or focuses on crafting, everyone aims to improve their performance and will happily trade gold for your assistance.

A major benefit of Enchanting is its complete self-sufficiency. Unlike most crafting professions that depend on a corresponding gathering profession for resources, Enchantment functions independently, providing you with greater flexibility in your selection.

Tailoring remains the most common pairing, as it is another independent profession where you obtain necessary materials by looting enemies rather than through a specific gathering mechanic. By selecting these together, you can advance two crafting professions at once! Additionally, they work well together, allowing you to enchant tailor-made items to enhance them or disenchant them to acquire enchanting crafting materials.

Leatherworking and Blacksmithing are also viable options. Although acquiring materials for these can be challenging, both allow you to produce gear suitable for disenchanting. Your specific skill points allocation will also influence the quality of materials you receive from disenchantment.

Fundamentally, Enchanting functions much like other crafting professions. The core concept is identical: take raw materials and transform them into something superior. Having covered the items you will craft as an Enchanter, let’s look at the materials and how to acquire them.

Rather than gathering required materials in the open world, Enchanters disenchant—or simply break down—gear into materials, which are then utilized to create enchantments. While destroying gear might feel daunting initially, it is an excellent method to clear out useless junk from your inventory and convert it into something valuable. Just be careful about what you choose to disenchant, as these items are permanently destroyed.

While certain materials can be found by looting enemies or purchasing them from vendors, disenchantment remains your primary method for obtaining materials.

It is important to note immediately that the overhauled profession system significantly changes how you level up primary professions. Currently, rather than gaining experience from every crafting action, the majority of your progress is derived from first-time crafts. Essentially, rapid leveling now relies less on identifying the most efficient recipe to craft repeatedly and more on executing a strategy that involves crafting a wide variety of different items as quickly as possible.

We suggest a few tips: level alongside friends, prioritize your reputations, pick up a secondary crafting profession, and utilize Crafting Orders. Friends can provide you with gear to disenchant, which yields materials and can also accelerate your profession advancement.

Reputations offer access to valuable recipes that can greatly speed up your leveling. A second crafting profession provides you with items to disenchant, while Crafting Orders allow you to create items necessary for your progression, even when you lack the specific resources required to craft them yourself.
