VALORANT Premier Guide: Everything You Need to Know

VALORANT Premier is a new tournament format that will eventually link to the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) pro scene. The main purpose of introducing this mode of gameplay is to allow players an opportunity to compete with others in a match that is much more competitive than ranked.

In this comprehensive guide, we will go over everything you need to know about VALORANT Premier. Let’s get started!

What Is VALORANT Premier?

VALORANT Premier is a new type of tournament hosted within the game where you can sign up as a team and compete with others. To join the Premier zone, you need to have a team of five players.

The Premier zone is divided into two regions: East and West. Depending on the region you wish to play in, the timings of the tournament selections may vary.

When you register for VALORANT Premier, the game uses an algorithm to determine the division your competitive rank falls in. There are five different divisions, and these are as follows:

  1. Contender
  2. Elite 1-5
  3. Advanced 1-5
  4. Intermediate 1-5
  5. Open 1-5

When Can You Join VALORANT Premier?

Players can join VALORANT Premier during the enrollment period. However, the dynamics of the tournament are a bit different.

The selection for the tournament is typically held on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (only three days a week) across four weeks. Each week features a separate map, which keeps the matches exciting and fun.

When you join VALORANT Premier, your team can play two games a week. It’s up to you and your team to decide whether to play both of the matches on the same day or spread them over the three days.

The key goal is to gather as many points as you can to qualify for the tournament. After every match, the game calculates the points of each team. A win is worth 100 points, while a loss gets you 25 points.

However, if you don’t show up, you don’t earn any points. Your team will need a total of 675 points to qualify.

What Is the Process After Qualifying?

Once your team gets the recommended points to qualify for the tournament, you’ll receive a notification that will mention the details of the match, including the scheduled time and who your team will be playing against.

The tournament lasts for the entire day. Each team gets pitted against another team, and the winner is crowned the new champion. It’s important to note that since there are multiple divisions and zones, there can be an infinite number of winners.

Any team chosen during the selections is pooled into a group that consists of eight teams, which is a single tournament bracket. There could be hundreds of groups and thousands of teams.

The winner of each group gets to win the title and become the crowned champion of that division. Plus, they also get a unique Gun Buddy, the rarest cosmetic in the game that is extremely difficult to obtain.

When Will the VALORANT Premier Stage 1 Begin?

The VALORANT Premier Stage 1 is already in progress and will run for seven weeks or a total of 54 days. Below is the schedule of the tournament:

  • 29 August to 7 September - Enrollment period
  • 7 September to 21 October - Weekly matches
  • 22 October - Playoff tournament
