Exploring the 2023 League of Legends Season
Every year, Riot Games finds new ways to make League of Legends more enjoyable for players, and the 2023 update is no different. With new and updated items, improved communication tools, top lane changes, and more, there is much to look forward to in the 2023 version of League.

- Communication Tools
The truth is that League of Legends is a multiplayer game, so communication is key. To that end, Riot Games has made several improvements to the collaboration tools available to players.
More Pings and New Vision Wheel
The number of pings offered has been doubled to improve communication. In addition, the company has also introduced a brand-new ping wheel that concentrates on vision. Players are now able to convey the following using this new vision wheel: need vision, enemy vision, and cleared vision.
Voting Feature
A new voting feature that works like a surrender vote is now available to players. You can now vote and clarify whether you would like to accept or reject an objective.
- Jungle Improvements
By acquiring one of the new jungle pets, you can avoid the dangers of traveling alone in the jungle. As the game goes on, these pets will gradually accumulate "treats" every time you kill something, which will aid in the growth of these jungle pets. Once they mature, pets will grant their owners bonuses, giving them access to new attributes.
Furthermore, Riot Games has added visual leash indicators that will highlight how far camps may be pushed until their patience starts to wane. Now, to maximize your jungle clears, you will no longer need to stand on the ideal pixel, as the distance that camps may be pulled has been reduced.
In the 2023 version of League of Legends, you will also receive path recommendations based on some of the masters that have displayed proficiency in navigating the jungle.
- Chemtech Drake
The new and improved version will also see the return of Chemtech Drake, who grants players bonus damage if they are below a certain level of health. He also gives shield strength and tenacity when he is defeated.
- Vision System Updates
Riot Games has also conducted two vision system updates designed to make the game more user-friendly.
Enemy Ward Timers
It can be challenging to keep track of every ward that is added to the map, and it can be more difficult still to effectively share that information with the other players. Suppose you ping an enemy ward that you saw. In that case, the enemy ward timer in the 2023 update displays until the ward expires or is removed.
It’s Now Easier to Track Allied Wards
Although there are existing ways to know how many wards you have deployed, there isn't a fast way to determine which wards are nearing expiration other than painstakingly going through each ward that has been deployed. New ward graphics now appear when wards are approaching expiration.
- Updated and New Items
A League of Legends update would simply not be complete without a few new and updated items. Here’s a list of the 12 items that Riot Games has implemented in the 2023 version:

Players will now have access to summoner spells in the champ select and recommended rune pages. They will also be able to tell which new abilities will be ranked up at different levels following the latest updates.
- Lane Changes
Additionally, Riot Games has made some changes to speed up the scaling and leveling of top laners in comparison to mid and bot. The following modifications apply:
- Duo Lane Experience: Minions grant duo lanes a 22 percent additional experience multiplier.
- Solo Lane Experience: Minions give solo lanes a 95 percent experience multiplier.
